Thinkfree Developers Terms of Service

Language. These Terms of Service are originally prepared in English. Translations into other languages may be provided for convenience only. In the event of any conflict, discrepancy, or inconsistency between the English version and any translated version, the English version shall prevail, to the extent permitted by applicable law.

These Terms of Service (the Terms) govern access to and use of the Thinkfree Developers website, Developer Console, documentation, Playground, application programming interfaces, Cloud Office, Self-hosted Office downloads and related developer services (collectively, the Service) provided by Thinkfree Inc. (Thinkfree, we, us, or our).

If you use the Service for an organization, you represent that you have authority to accept these Terms for that organization. In that case, you includes the organization.

1. Eligibility and account creation​

You must be legally capable of entering into a binding agreement and must be at least 18 years old. You must provide accurate account information and keep it current.

You can sign in with a verified email and password or a supported third-party identity provider. You are responsible for activity performed through the account and for protecting passwords, API Keys, access URLs, and other credentials. Tell us promptly at contact@thinkfree.com if you believe a credential or account has been compromised.

2. The Service​

Thinkfree Developers provides developer resources for evaluating, integrating, operating, and automating Thinkfree Office. Available features may include:

  • public documentation, SDK examples, and interactive Playgrounds;

  • Developer Console account, license, API Key, and storage-connection management;

  • Cloud Office document viewing and editing through Thinkfree-operated Office resources; and

  • Self-hosted Office container information and downloads.

Feature status, limits, supported formats, license terms, and availability are described in the applicable documentation or order. A Preview, evaluation, free, or planned feature may have additional limits and is not a production commitment unless we state otherwise in writing.

An API Key identifies the account that makes a request. You must keep API Keys in server-side systems and must not expose them in public browser code, source repositories, logs, or client applications. You are responsible for requests made with an active API Key until it is revoked or deleted.

Editor, viewer, status, and download URLs may grant temporary access to a document workflow. Treat these URLs as bearer credentials. Do not publish, log, or share them with anyone who should not access the document.

We may enforce reasonable technical limits to protect the Service, including limits on request rates, concurrent sessions, file size, storage duration, and abusive traffic. You must not attempt to bypass these limits.

4. Customer content and connected storage​

Customer Content means documents, files, object keys, metadata, configuration, and other material that you or an authorized user submits, uploads, or makes available through the Service. You retain ownership of Customer Content.

You grant Thinkfree a limited, non-exclusive right to host, copy, transmit, transform, and otherwise process Customer Content only as needed to provide, secure, support, and maintain the Service or comply with law. This right ends when the content is deleted from the Service, subject to operational backups and legally required retention.

You are responsible for ensuring that:

  • you have the rights and authority required to use and process Customer Content;

  • storage credentials and permissions grant only the access needed for the intended workflow;

  • Customer Content and its use comply with applicable law and third-party rights; and

  • you maintain appropriate source copies and backups.

Do not submit highly sensitive or regulated information unless Thinkfree has expressly agreed in writing to support that data and the required safeguards.

5. Acceptable use​

You must not use the Service to:

  • violate law, intellectual-property rights, privacy rights, or contractual obligations;

  • access another account, storage connection, document, or system without authorization;

  • distribute malware, exploit vulnerabilities, evade security controls, or interfere with the Service;

  • overload the Service, automate abusive traffic, or probe systems without written authorization;

  • resell or provide the Service to third parties unless an applicable plan or written agreement permits it; or

  • use the Service to create or distribute unlawful, deceptive, abusive, or harmful content.

We may investigate suspected abuse and suspend access when reasonably necessary to protect users, Thinkfree, or the Service. Where practical and lawful, we will provide notice and an opportunity to correct the issue.

6. Software, documentation, and intellectual property​

Thinkfree and its licensors retain all rights in the Service, software, documentation, branding, and related technology. These Terms do not transfer ownership to you.

Software, SDKs, container images, sample code, and third-party components may include separate license terms. Those terms control for that material. Unless the applicable license allows it, you may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, or distribute the Service or bypass technical protection measures.

If you provide feedback, you grant Thinkfree a worldwide, royalty-free right to use it without an obligation to you. Do not include confidential information in feedback.

7. Third-party services​

The Service can connect to third-party identity providers, cloud storage, object storage, and other services that you choose. Your use of a third-party service is governed by its terms and privacy practices. Thinkfree is not responsible for a third-party service or for changes, suspension, or loss caused by that service.

You authorize Thinkfree to exchange the data needed to perform the connection you request. You can remove supported connections from the Developer Console, subject to any retention required for security, legal, or audit purposes.

8. Fees and licenses​

Some features are free or included for evaluation. Paid Plan, Credit, subscription, and license prices, taxes, usage units, and renewal terms shown at checkout or in an order form apply in addition to these Terms. We will not charge a payment method unless you or an authorized user completes the applicable purchase flow.

Delivery. Payments are processed through our payment provider, Paddle. Upon payment confirmation, the purchased Plan, Credit, or license is provisioned to your account immediately or as otherwise described at checkout.

A paid Plan renews monthly until cancellation. A downgrade or cancellation takes effect at the next renewal, so the current Plan remains available through the end of the paid period and no discretionary mid-period refund applies. An upgrade takes effect after the new full-month payment is confirmed. The new billing period starts then, the new Plan's full monthly subscription Credit is issued, and unused subscription Credit from the previous Plan period is removed. Welcome, Coupon, and separately purchased Credit are not part of that removal.

For a paid Plan upgrade, Thinkfree refunds part of the old Plan payment in proportion to unused old-Plan subscription Credit. The proportion is the unused Credit divided by that Plan's monthly Credit grant. The Plus introductory promotional offer uses the same rule. We do not apply a separate minimum-refund threshold or fixed refund-processing fee to this policy.

Purchased Credit Packs are generally non-refundable. Thinkfree may approve a full exception only when no Credit from that specific purchase has been used; partial Credit Pack refunds are not offered. Statutory cancellation, refund, warranty, and consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded always take precedence over these discretionary policies. Our payment provider may process an approved refund and may require additional verification.

Additional refund terms. In addition to the policies above, the following applies:

  • If you request a refund within 14 days of the initial payment and have used 10% or less of the included Credit, Thinkfree provides a full refund and terminates the service immediately.

  • For an annual subscription cancelled mid-term, Thinkfree refunds the amount paid minus the standard monthly price for each elapsed or partial month.

  • Credit granted free of charge (including support or promotional Credit) is not refundable.

  • If Thinkfree terminates the service due to its own fault, Thinkfree refunds the unused portion in full.

Office software and license files may have product-specific limits, expiration dates, online-authentication requirements, or deployment restrictions. You must follow the terms shown with the applicable image, license, or order.

9. Availability and changes to the Service​

We work to operate the Service reliably, but no online service is uninterrupted. Maintenance, security incidents, upstream failures, and technical changes may affect availability. We may modify or discontinue a feature for security, legal, operational, or product reasons. When a change materially affects an active paid service, we will provide notice as required by law or the applicable order.

10. Suspension, termination, and account deletion​

You may stop using the Service at any time. Account deletion is permanent. It schedules any paid subscription to end, removes remaining subscription, purchased, Welcome, and Coupon Credit, and does not create a discretionary refund. The Service shows these effects before you confirm deletion. Mandatory rights under applicable law remain available.

You may request account deletion or exercise privacy rights by contacting contact@thinkfree.com. We may retain limited information when required by law or reasonably needed to resolve disputes, prevent fraud, enforce these Terms, or maintain security records.

We may suspend or terminate access if you materially breach these Terms, create a security or legal risk, fail to pay an amount due, or use the Service in a way that could harm others. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including ownership, payment obligations, disclaimers, liability limits, and dispute terms.

11. Disclaimers​

To the extent permitted by law, the Service is provided as is and as available. Thinkfree disclaims implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or suitable for every document, format, regulatory requirement, or use case.

Nothing in these Terms excludes a warranty or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded.

12. Limitation of liability​

To the extent permitted by law, Thinkfree will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or business opportunity arising from the Service. Any limitation applies only to the extent allowed by applicable law and does not limit liability that cannot legally be limited.

An order form or separate written agreement may state a different liability allocation. If it does, that agreement controls for the covered service.

13. Changes to these Terms​

We may update these Terms to reflect changes in the Service, law, security, or business practices. Each revision receives a new version and effective date, and earlier versions remain available from Legal documents.

For a material change, we will provide reasonable advance notice through the Service, by email, or by another appropriate method. We may ask you to accept the new version before continuing to use an affected feature. Changes do not apply retroactively unless required by law or expressly agreed.

14. Governing law and disputes​

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Unless applicable law requires another forum, disputes will be submitted to the Seoul Central District Court. Before filing a claim, contact us so we can try to resolve the issue.
